Hello! My name is Luiz, and I am an oboist, currently in my final year of postgraduate study at the Royal Academy of Music. My aim is to provide well-rounded, engaging and enjoyable lessons to students of all ages and abilities, and to encourage them to develop greater confidence, dexterity and passion for music. While the oboe and cor anglais are my main specialisms, I'm also happy to teach music theory and piano. In addition to, I'm currently a music teacher for the Lycaeum Music agency and a member of Tutorful.

I firmly believe that it is vital to provide tuition that is tailored to each individual student, according to how they respond to different styles of teaching. I also aim to incorporate as many different musical elements as possible into my lessons; students will have the opportunity to explore other aspects of music, such as theory and aural characteristics, and how they relate to their instrumental studies.

I was born in Sao Paulo, Brazil, but I moved to the UK at the age of five, allowing me to become fluent in English and Portuguese. Shortly after moving here, I began studying the Piano at the Elgar School of Music and, at the age of seven, became a chorister at Worcester Cathedral. I began studying the oboe at King's School Worcester in 2005, and since then, music, and music education, have been an incredibly important part of my life. While I was a chorister, I had opportunities to work with children all around the UK. We would visit schools and teach children how to sing as a choir, and, at the end of each term, these students would come together for a final concert at Worcester Cathedral. During my High School years in Brazil, I took part in an after-school activity at my school called GILC (Graded Instrument Learning Centre), which involved teaching younger students how to play the oboe and improve their technique, whilst helping them with the repertoire for the school wind-band.
