Lana Bode is an American-British pianist, programmer and artistic director, widely recognised for her innovative cross-arts programming and her performances of contemporary music. Lana performs as a solo pianist and in collaboration with some of the world’s leading singers and instrumentalists including Marcus Farnsworth, Marta Fontanals-Simmons, Robert Murray, Lucy Schaufer, Kate Valentine, Robert Cohen and James Turnbull.

Lana holds a BMus with High Distinction from the Indiana University Jacobs School of Music, and an MMus with Distinction from the Guildhall School of Music & Drama, where her final recital was awarded the coveted Concert Recital Diploma. She was the inaugural winner of the Viola Tunnard Young Artist award, resulting in a year-long career development programme at Snape Maltings under the mentorship of Roger Vignoles. She is a Samling Artist, a Leverhulme Artist and an alumnus of the Britten-Pears Young Artist Programme.

Recital performances have taken her from major London venues to festivals around the UK. Recent engagements include Aldeburgh Festival, Barbican Hall, BBC Radio 3 Hear and Now, Colyer-Fergusson Hall (Canterbury), Oxford Lieder Festival, Purcell Room, Red House (Aldeburgh) and Sage Gateshead.

In addition to her concert career, Lana is the Artistic Director of the Virginia Woolf & Music concert project, a contemporary song coach at Guildhall School of Music & Drama and a piano teacher at the London Contemporary School of Piano. She also has 10 years of experience teaching piano lessons in primary and secondary schools.

Lana specialises in teaching adults and children who are looking for a contemporary creative approach to music. She teaches on a Yamaha grand piano in her home, conveniently situated just off the South Circular in Forest Hill.
