Biography

Christine Bunning has enjoyed a successful solo career, singing the roles of Tosca, Mimi, Lady Macbeth for major opera houses in the UK and abroad, Aida for Raymond Gubbay at the Royal Albert Hall, Adriana Lecouvreur, and Rosalinde (Die Fledermaus) for Holland Park Opera and The Overseer in “Electra” for The Royal Opera House, Covent Garden.

She has given solo recitals at the Wigmore Hall and the Purcell Room, and has performed works from new composers including Elis Pehkonen and James Macmillan. She created the role of Agrafena in Julian Grant’s “A family affair“, and sang Wanda in world premier of Nicholas Maw’s “Sophie’s choice” conducted by Sir Simon Rattle at Covent Garden.

Recent engagements include Mahler 4 with Symphonia Academica, the UK premier of “The Mukamba Tree” by Richard Sisson and performances of her hilarious one woman show “A diva dismantled”.
