Instruments: Cello
Ability Levels: Beginners to Intermediate

Notes:

I have been teaching the cello in St Albans for several years, and teach both children and adults. For me as a teacher, the most important thing to communicate is how much fun music can be, right from the start. Playing a stringed instrument is not easy - nothing worth doing ever is - but the cello is the most wonderful instrument, with a big, beautiful, mellow sound, that can be solo or part of a group. For string players, the most rewarding thing is playing with others, so from the very early lessons I accompany my pupils either on the piano or in a cello duet. This immediately instils a sense of how one part depends upon and fits in with another, and the whole is so much more than the sum of the parts.
