Li You¡¯s biography
Li You started her piano study with Jinyi Li at the age of six. She gained Grade 10 in Piano Performance Associated board with Shanghai Conservatory, which admitted by Shanghai Musicians Committee in 1995 under the private tuition of Hong Huang who is a piano tutor in Shanghai Conservatory. In 2001, she came to England and studied in London College of Music & Media with Jill Crossland. She was highly recommended in Holmes Prize 2002 held in LCMM. In the same year, she participated in Tunbridge Wells International Young Concert Artists Competition in July. She was in second round of the London International Music Competition held in Royal Academy of Music in August 2003. In 2004, She won the Beethoven Prize in LCMM and also represented the LCMM in the annual Intercollegiate Beethoven Competition organised by the Beethoven Society of Europe in the end of 2004. Currently she is studying in Royal Northern College of Music as a Postgraduate student under the tutorial of Murray Mclachlan. She has given a successful recital in Newcastle contained of Liszt ¡¯s transcendental etude in the end of February 2005. She is very keen to perform Liszt¡¯s piano music and using her strength to explore the virtuosic world. Before the summer 2005, she has given a coffee recital in Disbury Emanuelle Church including Mozart¡¯s master piece, she also shared a concert held in Harrogate with other 2 pianists in the end of June. She entered Chetham¡¯s piano summer school and also studied with Polish Pianist Jan Kadlubiski. She is going to complete her Master¡¯s degree in Music from 2005 to 2006 and indulges into Brahms¡¯s 2nd Piano Concerto as a new challenge.
From 1998, started private teaching and practice assisting 2 children; one has achieved her Grade 6 in piano performance and music theory.
From Sep/2000, started working as a full-time music teacher in a specialized music primary school in Shanghai after gained Associate Degree in Music Education.
In 2004, did music pedagogy in St Pancras &St Mary primary school in London, gained success after joined the Annual Contemporary Church Festival 2004 took place in St Pancras Church. Worked together with the children doing composition, vocal and instrumental training.
Currently, had experienced supply piano teaching in Grange Comprehensive School in Runcorn and adults.
