Clarinet (Bb, A, Bass)

Flute

He also offers composition lessons, music theory lessons and support for students preparing to apply to study music at a music conservatoire or university. Matt also offers to music students and their parents / guardians advice on the application and audition process.

Matt seeks to cater for the individual needs of his pupils and to design learning schemes that ensure the greatest, most efficient development. He is more than happy to incorporate teaching towards the Associated Board or Trinity Guildhall syllabi. In addition to his woodwind skills, he is proficient on drums and piano and use these instrumental skills to better demonstrate rhythmic and harmonic principles respectively. Matt also utilises the medium of audio-visual technology to record lessons, in order to ensure that he can analyse his pupils' playing and provide the most accurate feedback.

Overall, Matt Johnson comprehensively prepares his pupils, providing them with the highest quality of tuition during his lessons and provide the greatest aftercare, in order to ensure that his pupils not only get the most out of their lessons but, moreover, that they enjoy them!

One to one lessons are charged at £25 per hour, with students normally expected to attend at least one lesson per week. A course of five one-hour lessons is available for the reduced price of £110, while 10 such lessons may be purchased at a discounted rate of £200. All lessons must be paid for in advance.

Exceptionally, he would be willing to allow ab initio players to use his instruments for an initial lesson (only), in order to assess aptitude and ability. Thereafter, however, all students will need to purchase their own instruments, not least in order to be able to practice in their own time. To that end, I would be happy to provide advice to signed-up students (or their parents / guardians) on purchasing suitable instruments.

Matt is fully CRB checked.
