Biography

I studied Music at Oxford University and at Guildhall School of Music and am passionate about music and horn playing in particular. I am a hugely experienced teacher of both brass instruments and academic music and have travelled internationally as a music examiner. I am also a member of the panel which sets the Trinity College London brass syllabus.

I am available for lessons online and will be available for home visits as soon as government guidance allows. My teaching is based on sound, academic principles and I encourage my students to obtain accredited qualifications, though I am well aware that nobody succeeds unless they enjoy what they are doing. As such, I ensure that I set clear goals and that lessons are progressive, inspiring and fun. My ability to communicate with and enthuse young people has led to my appointment as editor-in-chief of the innovative US-based project, 'Brass for Beginners', a role I enjoy almost as much as I enjoy teaching people to play!
