Philip Blake-Jones is still performing as a professional classical singer and is also the Artistic Director of London Festival Opera. He has a passion for singing and for passing on a natural, healthy vocal technique. From beginners wanting to improve their singing for fun or to professional singers developing their technique and performance skills.

Philip has a wide experience performing classical, grand opera and operetta and song. He is a former principle and recording artist with the D’Oyly Carte Opera Company.

He studied singing with Joy Mammen at the RAM and privately with Barbara Robotham, David Polloard, Iris dell’ Acqua, Laura Sarti and Jeffery Talbot.

He is a former vocal coach for the professional singers in the Liverpool Anglican Cathedral Choir.

He has appeared as a soloist with Glyndebourne Festival Opera, Glyndebourne Touring Opera, Kent Opera and at the Buxton Opera Festival. He appeared on two national tours with the D’Oyly Carte Opera Company singing Strephon in ‘Iolanthe’, a role he also recorded with the company with critical acclaim. He also appears on Sony Classical’s ‘The Best of Gilbert and Sullivan’. His concert appearances include baritone solo in Britten’s ‘War Requiem’ with the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra, bass solos in ‘Messiah’ in Florence and the Pisa Opera, a ‘Gala Concert’ with the City of London Sinfonia in Hamburg for an audience of 5,000 and in an ‘Opera Gala’ at the Teatro La Fenice in Venice.
