Mr Alam Nathoo

Instruments: Saxophone
Genre/Style(s): Jazz
Ability Levels: Beginners to Advanced

Alam began playing the clarinet at the age of eight, mainly because he thought it was much better than the recorder. This led to the discovery of the saxophone some years later. Early musical experiences were very funk, rock and latin based, and it wasn’t until he began studying at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama that Alam fell in love with all (well, most) things jazz. Since graduating Alam has played lots of music with lots of nice people (including TV appearances with Josh Ritter, McFly, Jane Mcdonald, and performances and radio broadcasts in Porto and on BBC Radio1 with the Heritage Orchestra) and is currently playing in several different original jazz projects including the Yazz Ahmed Quintet and his own group ‘Pluralism’, whilst also studying for his masters at Trinity College of Music. Alam can also be heard with the Tomorrows Warriors Jazz Orchestra and rocking out with the mighty 'Kubla Khan'.
