BMus in Music
Instruments: Violin
Genre/Style(s): Classical
Ability Levels: Beginners to Advanced

My motto is creative and passionate learning! Everybody is unique and have their own way of developing new skills. As a teacher I find it very exciting to find the ways to the best communicate and work together.

To teach music is a privilege and also a great responsibility. As L. Bernstein said “ Music can name the unnameable and communicate the unknowing”. To share the joys of music is something that will stay for a whole life time and lift life to new heights.

In my lessons I try to include: theory, technique, a wider knowledge of music and to play together. This is how a lesson might look like: Start with warm up. Get the fiddle out of the case and do a few exercises. To warm up the brain, some sight reading and start feeling the groove. Now for some technique and having a look at some long term pieces (these can be of any style, most important is that they mean something for the student). After working for maybe 25 or 15 minutes (depending on student) put the instrument down a have a little chat. Talk about music, what we’re doing or maybe how their day is? Do some stretching and cooling down. Bring the violin up again and continue working. For the last part of the lesson I always like to play something with the student. It’s so much fun playing together and one learns (both ways) so much in that way. About theory, some students like to blend in the theory as one goes a long whereas some like to do it in blocks separate from the instrument. Again what’s best suited for the student.
