I have played the saxophone for 30 + years, starting when I was a teenager studying with Norman Frost from Wirral, where I took grade exams and played with the Norman Roy Big Band eventually performing with local bands around Merseyside.
Further formal music study took place at college in Manchester from where I attained a place on the prestigious City of Leeds College of Music Jazz Studies course and graduated with a BA hons.
I have performed regularly all over the UK for more than 25 years in all manner of bands, ensembles, trios, duos, quartets, quintets, solo performances, on TV, in films and on radio.
I've played to audiences of 10,00 people and to 2 people!
Playing music right across the genres -
Rock, pop, soul, jazz, funk, blues, latin, folk, gospel, African, classical, Tango, Italian song, Ibiza club music, French song, avante garde.
Experience which makes me well equipped to advise on all matters musical where saxophones are involved.
I play Alto, Tenor Soprano and Baritone Saxophones and am happy to teach anyone of any age, age is rarely a barrier.
I encourage all my students to listen listen listen to the great Saxophonists, that's so important.
I have taught saxophone for 18 years, at home and at local school and colleges.
Based on my academic study along with hands on experience working as a band leader, session musician, arranger, soloist, songwriter . . . and so on and on…I feel all this brings invaluable experience and knowledge that make for a good saxophone teacher who can mentor soulful quality musicianship.
