Hi there, my name's Kristen and I'm currently a PhD student at the University of Nottingham, researching Music education. I recently graduated with an MRes degree in Music from the University, and also hold a First Class BA (Hons) degree in music.

I have around 17 years music-making experience, having picked up the cello at 7 years old!

I'm a very active classical musician and have been for several years. I have played at county level, lead cellist in the University of Nottingham Philharmonia under Jonathon Tilbrook, and I am currently playing with the Nottingham Symphony Orchestra. I also play regularly with contemporary musicians.

In terms of approach to lessons, this completely depends on the pupil! I am available to take students through graded exams (ABRSM or Trinity) or bring a more relaxed, laid-back feel to lessons, with more focus on playing for pleasure. I can also take pupils through the theory of music alongside the practical music-making element.

Happy to travel upon prior arrangement and within a reasonable distance of my place of work.

Please reach me on [email protected] or alternatively call me on 07541-535-195 if you're interested in lessons, rather than through the music teachers website. Thank you and I look forward to hearing from you!
