Instruments: Harp - online and in person
Genre/Style(s): Harp - Classical, Celtic
Ability Levels: Beginners to Advanced

Working with both total beginners and advanced players, Ruth loves teaching and is a regular tutor for harpists at National Youth Orchestra courses. She gives classes at UK music colleges - most recently at the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire and Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama. She also performs and records as a soloist, with orchestras and in ensembles. She teaches online and in person from her home in Cornwall and also travels to take workshops in UK and abroad.

As well as playing and teaching lever harp and full sized concert harp, Ruth also offers lessons in Renaissance bray harp and Gaelic wire strung harp. She structures her lessons carefully to suit each pupil, making them fun whilst focussing on a strong technique. She also covers musicality, creative work, aural and listening skills. For more advanced pupils she can offer lessons on arranging for harp and sessions on recording.

She can guide new pupils on the best instrument to play depending on their aims, as well as advising on harp hire or purchase - new or second hand.

Ruth's pupils have a 100% success rate in ABRSM exams, with several students getting high distinctions and music scholarships to UK schools and Music colleges.
