Notes:

I am a professional musician with over 10 years teaching experience. I am classically trained, but hailing from the Highlands of Scotland, I have a strong background in folk and fiddle music too. I teach upper strings for the Doncaster Music Education Hub/Doncaster Music Service as well as working for darts (Doncaster Community Arts) and in these roles, I work with all ages and abilities. On top of my teaching/education work, I play in a band and collaborate with other bands/artists. In the past, I have also worked as a music instructor and music leader for the R.S.A.M.D Musicworks department, the Nationaly Youth Choir of Scotland as well as a variety of local councils. I have experience of running my own workshops and music classes, rehearsing and conducting ensembles, delivering CPD courses and teaching music theory.

I tend to adapt my teaching approach to suit the pupil's needs, but in general, I am a firm believer in nurturing strong technique and musical knowledge, alongside creativity and musical expression. Most importantly, I like to make lessons fun.

I have a strong foundation in Early Years music education and I am open to teaching younger pupils. I have completed several training courses in both Colourstrings violin method and Kodaly approaches to music education. I am happy to help students prepare for ABRSM/Trinity/school performance exams. I also have experience of working with adult students too - all ages and abilities welcome!
