I came to Glen as a long-retired elderly pupil, and was immediately put at ease by his warmth and friendliness. In my younger days I had played tenor sax and clarinet, but now had the new challenge of not only trying to pick up where I had left off, but learning to play the alto sax I had rather optimistically acquired recently. I can only describe Glenís teaching as superlative. He guided me through basics I had long forgotten, tone quality, projection, intonation and breath control. All this with the utmost patience and application. So at first it was brushing up on technique and fingering, applying this to tunes and exercises. Then he gently led me on to the basics of jazz improvisation and the building blocks of chord structure, how to construct solos and the like. His knowledge is extensive and his ability to teach is so natural and effortless. I recommend him to any aspiring pupil with enthusiasm.
