I am Head of Music at a secondary school in Tring, teaching students at KS3 (11-14), GCSE and AS and A2 level. I also have experience of teaching flute and music theory. Having taught GCSE and Alevel Music for a number of years, I am an experienced one to one mentor, focusing on exam technique and listening skills for the written papers.

As I teach pupils of a broad age range and ability, I will always adapt my teaching styles and techniques to suit the individual needs of the student. Whether this is playing for fun, or working through grades, music should be a fun and enjoyable experience and my approach to teaching reflects this. I encourage pupils to play pieces from different styles of music, ranging from pop to classical so that their appreciation of music can grow and grow.

Music theory and exam revision can be quite tough so I devise interesting ways to make this a little more light hearted. Practice makes perfect so pupils need to make sure that time is dedicated to working at home as well as in lessons.
