Miss Emily Bannister

Biography

Emily Bannister completed her Bachelor of Music degree at the University of Birmingham in July 2012 studying with Ross Winters. Now in the second year of her Masters degree at the Royal College of Music, Emily has performed in a number of prestigious concert venues, including the Royal Academy of Music, the Sage in Gateshead and the Southbank Centre. She has performed on BBC Radio 3 in the new opera by Michael Wolters, The Voyage, as part of the 2012 Cultural Olympiad. During her time at RCM Emily has performed with the RCM Baroque Orchestra as part of the Brandenburg Choral Festival in 2013, and the International Festival of Viols. She has a keen interest in contemporary repertoire and has participated in several collaborative projects with RCM composers. This interest is shown in her work with the recorder quartet BLOCK4, whose interest in contemporary consort, along with captivating interpretations of renaissance consort music, has led them to become the first recorder group to win the 2014 Royal Overseas League Ensemble Competition.
