Throughout my career I have had exposure to a wide variety of challenging music, and have met hundreds of musicians with wildly varying abilities.
By conquering the challenges of the music I have performed, and by careful observation of the strengths and weaknesses of the different musicians I have worked with, I have developed what I believe to be a very comprehensive teaching style, capable of handling any pupil, of ANY age, and ANY ability.
I currently teach Piano and Singing at Bournemouth School, Bournemouth School for Girls, Twynham School, The Grange School, Lytchett Minster School, Purbeck School and Victoria Education Centre. In the past I have also taught at Ferndown Upper School and Ballard School.
In addition I gig all over the country playing keyboards with The Bowie Experience www.bowieexperience.com, www.thebowiexperience.co.uk, Terry Nash Tributes tntributes.co.uk including Meatloaf, Blues Brothers, Rocky Horror and Grease, several covers bands including The Usual Suspects, The Goodfoot Band, Suburban Jukebox, Vintage Noise and Phat Medallion.
I am currently the Musical Director for Highcliffe Charity Players and have been involved with over 60 theatre shows in my career so far (most as Musical Director), and have also been Musical Director for many other local groups including BBLOC, Biglittle Theatre School, P&P Productions, Ringwood Musical & Dramatic Society, BOS Musical Company, Poulner Players, Christchurch Scouts & Guides and BOAT.
I also have the ability to teach rhythm to a high degree in conjunction with the Drum Kit, which is always a great instrument to learn to help your co-ordination and rhythmic skills which you can transfer to your other instruments!
From working with various Choirs and Theatre groups over the years I have also developed some comprehensive techniques for teaching people how to sing both solo and in choirs! I am currently engaged in a postgraduate qualification (PGCert) in applied professional practice relating to Voice Teaching with applied physiology which I will complete in 2017.
The biggest thing I have always found is that pupils find their teachers intimidating, this is the first thing I try to avoid. I try to ensure that I keep my lessons fun and light hearted to allow you to ENJOY the instrument which is above all the most important thing!
