I'm an experienced guitar tutor, and have been teaching and playing in bands in and around Aberdeen since around 1995, having turned professional and being a full time musician since 2005.

The single most important thing for my pupils is to get enjoyment from playing guitar, so anyone who want lessons just for fun are welcomed. The styles covered in my lessons vary widely, I specialise in rock, blues, jazz and and also teach classical guitar technique and electric bass.

A more formal approach to guitar lessons includes the Trinity Rockschool syllabus up to grade 8 and beyond to diploma level, RGT electric and acoustic grade books, jazz guitar tuition and jazz theory, classical guitar, and Scottish traditional music for guitar and banjo (geared towards accompanying other instruments and ceilidh performances).

I am a qualified and registered guitar tutor holding a BA (Hons), FLCM (Fellowship Diploma, London College of Music), ALCM (Associate Diploma, London College of Music) Graduate Diploma & and Advanced Diploma in Jazz from St Andrews University. I am registered with The Registry Of Guitar Tutors and have full enhanced disclosure, references available on request.
Some of the bands I play (or have played) in include The Aristocats, Los Acousticos Bandidos, The Aberdeen Jazz Orchestra, AKA SKA, The Stuntdogs, Something Borrowed, KGB, Big Girls' Blues and various other music acts, as well as being a solo performer in various venues and restaurants. I also regularly perform in the band pit in local musical theatre productions.

Other notable performances have been at The Edinburgh Festival, St Andrews Society of Beijing, leading workshops in guitar at Harlaw Academy, Aberdeen, and hosting various jazz workshops
