Notes:

Throughout my life I've immersed myself in music, having had lessons in piano, flute, violin and viola each week and attending Junior Guildhall School of Music and Drama every Saturday. I achieved diploma standard in each instrument and was a member of the LSSO, JACO and loved being part of many orchestras and ensembles in school and now with the University of Glasgow.

Learning an instrument not only gives you a skill that will stay with you for life but will open doors allowing you to listen, learn about yourself and connect with other people through music.

I believe that your first music lessons are crucial to setting up a friendly, supportive environment where you are able to make mistakes and challenge yourself, and always want to try new pieces. It has been important to me to also learn about the history and theory of music in parallel with my instrument, giving me independence in reading music and understanding the significance of each piece I've played. I tailor my lessons to suit the student and what they find most interesting and want to learn. Playing an instrument can also become intimate and personal, meaning performing in front of others is very challenging. Through my experience playing solos in concerts and also in groups with other musicians I can empathise with students and give them the advice, encouragement and support they need. As a tutor I treat every student and lesson with renewed energy and enthusiasm, aspiring to challenge and stimulate my pupils and share with them my love of music.

Currently studying Civil Engineering with Architecture at the University of Glasgow, I am loving my course as well as playing in different orchestras. I am happy to teach online or in Glasgow, and the current online course means I have a very flexible teaching timetable. Feel free to contact me with any further questions, and I am open to giving trial lessons.

Best wishes,
Liliana
