I am a holistic style piano teacher currently based in London, experienced in teaching all ages and abilities through various studied theories and techniques of Music pedagogy, and additionally ABRSM examination methods for beginners.

I do specialise in teaching children to play and enjoy playing the piano, through my own HOLISTIC LEARNING program.
I teach adults in addition.

How Do I Teach?

At their foundation, my teaching methods are classical. However having observed difficulties within a classical teaching structure over the years, as a student myself and by teaching others, I broadened my scope to tutor holistically, by incorporating many methods of music pedagogy into my classes (such as Suzuki, Orff and Kodaly for example).

As I get to know my students, I will provide a well rounded repertoire of music, and music that my students would most especially like to learn and/or have a flair for. You will learn musical theory and aural skills, and each lesson will be tailored to the individual wishes and abilities of each pupil. I strive to work with my students on an individual basis, to ensure lessons are as fun and insightful as possible and that everyone is progressing as they wish to be.

The fact that most children learn best through the magical power of play, has been well researched, and I have found over the years that this is very true, particularly when working with children aged 5 years - 10 years. This style of teaching is also incredibly beneficial for adolescents and adults.

My Creative Learning approach to Piano education is all about flexibility of learning, and it strives to ensure that students don't become bored or disenchanted while they grow as musicians. I encourage students to work alongside me when setting personal goals, when seeking discipline with home practise and when choosing the music they would like to play.

I also encourage them to speak openly and freely about their difficulties so we can work through them together, in a way that suits that student individually. Arguably most importantly, I also do not expect a child to sit at a piano for the full length of any one lesson and still remain engaged, and so incorporate a selection of musical games, movement and theory practice into each session too.
Each student is unique in their character and interests and has a unique learning style!

Creative Learning allows for each student to learn to play the piano in a way that best suits them, and in their own time.
