Notes:

I am a young, progressive teacher, with a gentle and relaxed approach to teaching. My specialism is in jazz and big band drumming, but I have a love of progressive rock and metal, so can support a wide range of drumming styles.

I have been playing the drum kit for 18 years and live for it! I love how each person is so different when it comes to the kit and I enjoy helping my students to be completely themselves at the drums. My teaching is fun but balanced with challenges and development of excellent technique.

I listen carefully and can adapt to how you would like to play the drums, helping you with any issues with your playing, offering a wide variety of exercises, practice techniques and perspectives to expand your playing range. I can help you if you are just starting out, if you'd like to learn a new genre, or if you've been playing for years and feel stuck in a rut.

I have played in various jazz bands whilst at university, including the UEA Jazz Collective who recorded a professional 20-track CD, 'Going Places' in 2017. I was also an enthusiastic conductor of the UEA Big Band for 2 years, and enjoyed leading a band of such size, both from the front and as a drummer. I have also played in various musical theatre productions in Norwich and have several years of experience in music transcription for big band.

I am currently working towards Trinity College's Diploma in Drum Kit at Fellowship level and hope to have qualified by the end of 2020. I am happy to teach via Trinity College or Rockschool's graded systems, up to and including Grade 8, but I am equally happy teaching you or your child in a variety of non-graded ways; it is really up to your goals in drumming! And if you're not sure what your goals are, I can help you with that too. If you would like to take your exams, I can support the administrative side of this as well as on-the-day support.

I am available to teach at your home, evenings and weekends. Some day-time teaching is also available and I am very happy to be flexible. At the moment, I am unable to teach at my home.

I offer a basic rate of £30 for a 50 minute lesson, but I can be flexible about lesson length and happy to offer shorter lessons for children - just let me know and we will work something out. I also offer an introductory lesson free of charge to assess your needs, skills and whether I feel I can help you!

I look forward to hearing from you.
