Notes:

I have been playing the drum kit for 19 years. I love teaching and love being a continuous student of the drums. I would be happy to help you or your child to:

- Get started as an absolute beginner, build on existing skills or go to the next level whatever standard you are.
- Develop excellent technique
- Be completely yourself at the kit
- Develop confidence and independence
- Expand your current techniques and skills
- Accelerate your growth
- Challenge you to new heights (and new genres)
- Take graded exams (Trinity College or Rockschool) up to Grade 8
- Understand the role of the drummer in different musical contexts
- Be clear about your goals
- Improve your sight-reading
- Learn how to practice effectively and efficiently
- Make the best choices in terms of gear and kit

My experiences as a drummer to date:

- Since I was a child, I've been in informal blues, rock and 'pub' groups
- I've played in various professional jazz bands at university, including the University of East Anglia's Jazz Collective, recording a professional 20-track CD, 'Going Places' in 2017.
- Enthusiastic conductor and drummer for the University of East Anglia Big Band between 2016-17, performing multiple concerts to up to 500 people.
- Musical theatre drummer between 2014-17 for University of East Anglia drama productions.
- Independent drummer in a variety of prog rock and metal groups (since 2018)
- Currently working towards Trinity College's Diploma in Drum Kit at Fellowship level (2020-21)

My specialisms are in jazz, big band and all types of rock drumming - I have a love of progressive rock and metal, funk, fusion and the blues, so I can support a wide range of drumming styles.

I am happy to teach via Trinity College or Rockschool's graded systems, up to and including Grade 8, but I am equally happy teaching you or your child in a variety of non-graded ways; it is really up to your or their goals in drumming. I am fully flexible and always strive to bring you to the next level in your drumming wherever you come from.

I am only available to teach via Skype at the moment due to COVID.

I offer 60-minute lesson at £30 or a 30 minute lesson at £18. I also offer an introductory 30 minute lesson for all prospective students to assess your needs, skills and whether we are a good match.

Enhanced DBS Check available on request.

I also hold Level 2 Certificates in Behaviours that Challenge in Children (The Skills Network) and Safeguarding Adults (ShoutLearning).
