Born in Athens, Greece in 1980 Anna Stereopoulou embarked on her music studies – Piano/Music Theory – at the age of six. Furthermore, she gained her BMUS Honours degree at the LONDON COLLEGE OF MUSIC and last July she graduated from TRINITY COLLEGE OF MUSIC after studying for her Postgraduate Advanced Diploma in Composition. During that academic year and after being accepted for a scholarship at TCM, she chose to specialize in the field of Music Composition for Film and TV and has also taken on the task of organizing and overseeing audio-visual /multi-media concerts.

Amongst the venues where Anna presented her music is London’s HELLENIC CENTRE where she organized the concert ‘EUROPA’ (sponsored by HSBC Bank plc, TRIDENT HELLAS CARS, GLORIOUS PELEYS and under the aegis of S.A.F.E), Portsmouth’s GUILDHALL Concert Hall where she played with the Royal Naval Orchestra, the BRITISH MUSEUM, QUEEN ELIZABETH HALL and St MARTIN-IN-THE-FIELD.

A music that combines her Greek sea-fairing roots, with modern European movements, but above all with a distinct Greek sound. In this way her simple Doric melodies and her Byzantine, traditional influences draw pictures of the Mediterranean as they are being formed in every listener’s mind. Her basic aim being to combine and unify Music with the other arts, such as the Theatre, the Screen, Poetry, Dance or Architecture.

In August 2002, Anna took part in Symi’s Summer Festival, where she presented pieces for Solo Piano by classical composers as well as her own compositions. In March 2003 ‘The Latecomer’ a short film, for which Anna wrote the music took the Second Award at Berlin’s Short Film Festival.

Anna Stereopoulou is also collaborating with the Chamber String Orchestra FEMINARTE and other artists. This winter, Anna will start working on E.D.Chiesa’s film she has been commissioned to write music for, and will be screened at the Venice Film Festival 2004.
