I have many years of experience as a musician, both in performance and teaching, with a BA (hons) Degree and a Masters Degree in Music and Musicology from Bristol University. I have plenty of experience in teaching both adults and children, privately and in school (most recently as the peripatetic music teacher for St. Cuthbert's Junior School in Wells, Somerset). I have also taught pupils of the world-renowned music academy Wells Cathedral School. I now reside and teach in the Channel Island of Jersey.

I have a DBS certificate.

I teach students of the piano, violin, guitar, ukulele and mandolin/mandola.

I have an excellent knowledge of current teaching materials and instruments, gained from over 5 years of work in music retail for Hobgoblin Music (folk specialists) and Musicroom (where I was head of piano sales in Bristol), as well as keeping up to date with contacts within the industry and researching the latest developments in teaching methods.

I can teach either ABRSM, Rockschool or Trinity Guildhall examination material should the pupil wish to take exams (a decision I always leave to the pupil).

Lessons are fun, relaxed & well planned. Pianists please note that as well as classical and jazz, I also have extensive experience in pop, blues, boogie & rock 'n' roll styles.

I am a folk specialist on the violin and mandolin/mandola, but also classically trained too on the former. Whilst living in Bristol, I founded and directed the popular Raggedy Folk Players courses for adult learners of folk instruments and more recently I founded and led the regular folk session at The George Inn, Croscombe, Somerset.

I am more than happy to do one-off beginners' courses, which can include an introduction to reading music and all the basics for the required instrument.

Finally, I can offer music theory lessons and advice too.
