Hello, my name is Lisanne Otten, a professional musician and passionate teacher. I'm a BA (hons) Music graduate of LIPA Paul McCartney's Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts.
I'm originally classically trained on the piano in my home country of the Netherlands, then branched into jazz and pop/ rock. My background also includes (church) choir-singing, and playing the bass guitar since the age of 14.
Throughout my musical career I have been very active in musical theatre, jazz, rock, and pop, as a rehearsal pianist, keyboardist, bassist and as an MD.
As well as working as a professional gigging musician and teacher, I am currently completing my City and Guilds CTLLS qualification at Access to Music in Birmingham.
Alongside teaching, I make a living from playing solo and background piano at various hotels and restaurants including at the Wintergardens and Bottelino's restaurants in the South-West;
and playing live at various venues around the UK with my jazz & latin band the Mojocats as well as rock, disco and 80's function bands (including a Sting and the Police tribute band).
I also play with Orchestra's and MD for musicals such as Little Women and Chess.
One of the highlights of my music career so far has been MD'-ing for a touring cabaret show called "A Rough Guide To The Musicals" that ran in the Jermyn Street Theatre in London's West End.
Another was when I had the opportunity to tour Egypt with the group Property of Nadya Shanab, playing original Arabic influenced pop.
Due to my versatile musical experience, I can offer a range of styles in lessons, from classical to jazz and from latin to rock.
I am patient, and dedicated to students having fun during their playing as well as learning vital skills to become a confident, creditable musician.
Services also include background/cocktail pianist, (rehearsal) pianist/ MD and bass guitarist./ bass guitar teacher for beginners.
