I am an established guitar teacher with an outstanding record of student success, in the last three years I have had five students win places at The Royal Northern College of Music, Manchester University and Berklee College of Music in Boston - USA

I am as comfortable teaching new beginners as I am teaching those finishing their BMus degrees, and am consistently successful when entering students for grade exams or teaching those who only want to play for pleasure and enjoyment.

I currently teach at Xaverian College in Manchester, a sixth form college that boasts the largest A-level music department in the country. I also teach at Wilsonís Boys School in Wallington, a high achieving selective school that places heavy emphasis on music. I began teaching there in 2015 and have a good mix of classical, acoustic and electric guitar students. I also play bass guitar to a high standard and have taught bass at these institutions.

I have years of experience as a classical soloist and chamber musician, but also as a rock, jazz and pop guitarist who has played on the functions circuit, in countless theatre pit bands, original bands, small jazz combos, and exclusively holding the RNCM big band chair for 5 years, even whilst principally studying classical guitar.

My ethos as a teacher follows my belief that guitarists need to receive the same level of thorough tuition that other instrumentalists do. I want to be part of a generation working in order to elevate the status of the instrument.

My teaching relies on ensuring the fundamentals of the instrument and musicianship are truly strong - allowing the student to freely follow whatever genres interest them, or stylistic choices they make.
Elements such as finding a relaxed and personal technique, effective practice methods are tailored to the individual.

I have a vast knowledge of different genres and to me there is nothing more exciting that seeing the spark of inspiration in a young student, and being able to share knowledge or make musical introductions to them.
