Notes:

It is important that both the teacher and student enjoys the opportunity to meet and discuss the singing process before deciding to embark on a singing journey. For this reason i always recommend a 'one-off' starter lesson for which i charge £20. From here, weekly or fortnightly or more occasional lessons can then be organised.
As i focus on the fundamental principles underneath the singing process, all ages and styles are catered for. The individual and their expressive nature is always integrally linked and it is my aim to reveal a person's abilities and perspectives from a very much holistic approach. Of course as there are many levels and layers to the process, simplicity and depth will be judged according to the individual at any given moment in time.
I do not automatically cover grades but am happy to do so.My emphasis as much as possible is to explore as many aspects of the singing craft as are appropriate to the individual.
I have also played piano to grade 5 and have taught as a classroom teacher for 21 years, 14 of which was teaching GCSE in a 750 pupil High School. As part of my school work i have conducted orchestras and chamber groups, choirs and African drumming and can also give assistance with school work and music theory as required.
I still currently perform as soloist in classical concerts in the UK and divide my time between school, private teaching and my own performance work.
I studied intensively for five years at the Royal Northern College of music in Manchester and the Royal Academy, Royal College and Guildhall in London to attain my three performance diplomas respectively. During that time i also performed regularly with the 'BBC Northern Singers' on the radio and the 'William Byrd Singers' - both conducted by Stephen Wilkinson.
My main areas of study have been Opera, Oratorio, British song, German Lieder, French Melodie although i am happy to teach in all styles and genres and particularly enjoy singing Jazz.
Whether your aspirations are technical, emotional, for confidence, exams or just for fun, all aspects can be accommodated. It is the student's needs that matter.
