Biography

Tim graduated from Birmingham Conservatoire in 2004 with a BMus(Hons) first class degree, gaining the BMus prize for outstanding achievement. He then went on to complete the AdvPgDip International course at the Conservatoire receiving a Distinction.

Residing in Northampton, Tim has played an active role in music around Birmingham, and has performed with the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra, the Birmingham Contemporary Music Group and the Royal Shakespeare Company. With these groups he has performed at the Barbican, BBC Proms (Albert Hall), Symphony Hall, Birmingham and Snape Maltings.

Tim is an active educator and holds teaching positions at Birmingham Conservatoire, Birmingham University and Rugby School. He was a percussion adjudicator for BBC Young Musician of the Year 2016 and is a former Percussive Arts Society UK Chapter President.

He is known Internationally for his work with Maraca2 Percussion Duo. A group which has been active since 2003. The group has traveled extensively around the World performing and teaching at over 50 schools and Universities in 5 continents. They have appeared at many of the globes top percussion festivals, most notably an evening Showcase Concert at the Percussive Arts Society International Convention, Indianapolis, USA. In 2018 Maraca2 will perform a Concerto with the Los Angeles Philharmonic.

Tim was recently bestowed with the honour of Honorary Member of Birmingham Conservatoire in recognition for work within the Percussion community and development of a distinguished career within the music industry. (HonBC).
