Dr Christoph Knöpfel

I trained as a pianist at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama, read music history and musicology at City University and studied composition at Goldsmiths College, the Hochschule für Musik und Darstellende Kunst in Frankfurt and the Conservatoire de Strasbourg before completing a PhD in the philosophy of music at King’s College, London. I have worked as a performer, accompanist, improviser and session musician and am active as a composer and writer on music.

I have more than 15 years of experience as teacher, tutor and lecturer and have held positions at institutions of Secondary, Further and Higher Education. I currently lecture on the undergraduate programme at the Foundation for International Education in London and teach theory, composition and aural skills at the Junior Department of the Royal College of Music.
