Hi, My name is Mhairi, I'm from Glasgow and currently living in Newcastle. I am studying on the Folk and Traditional Music course at Newcastle University. I have been playing the fiddle for 9 years with the Southside Fiddler's School in Glasgow. I have had the amazing opportunities to attend and perform with the Southside Fiddlers at various events all over the world such as NAFCO, Ethno Sweden, Scottish Fiddle Festival and Celtic Colours (Nova Scotia).

I have been teaching children and adults between the ages of 3 and 63 years old for 6 and a half years and have been involved in teaching weekly group and individual lessons and many summer schools with the Southside Fiddlers.

I am happy to prepare and present pupils for graded exams if they wish, as I am familiar with the syllabus, however there is no pressure to do so if not desired.

I have a Scottish PVG disclosure which is the equivalent to a DBS.

My main aim is to make music and lessons fun while also learning and improving. I work at a pace suitable for the learner and tailor lessons individually. I teach by ear but will provide notation, recordings and exercises.
