I am an experienced musician with 18 years teaching experience and I use a friendly and flexible teaching approach. I aim to make my lessons fun and relaxed and encouraging.
I cover all the basics in my lessons and tailor my lessons to suit pupils individual interests and needs.

I am experienced at entering pupils for exams under the ABRSM but do not push people into taking them unless they want to.

I have taught for Essex Music Services (8 years), and have also ran community music workshops and Summer Schools for Essex Music Services. I have also been teaching on a private basis since graduating from Leeds College of Music for the past 18 years.

I have played with a variety of different jazz bands, cover bands and folk and world music bands, too numerous to mention. More recently I have performed in world music festivals, including Rhythms of The World (Hitchin), Singing Sticks, (Bedfordshire), Elementry (Wales), and Hum Drum, (Bedfordshire). I have also played for the Red Cross Open Gardens, Harlow Music Festival, Vern Fest (Bishop Stortford), Gibberd Gardens jazz picnic and Greenwich jazz festival.

As part of my musical development I attended a jazz Summer Music School course at the Barbican, where one of the course tutors was the great British jazz saxophonist, Don Rendell.

This inspired me to have several lessons with him to further my playing skills and technique.
I have also ran a Pre-School aged music group and I have experience at working with people with special needs.

I teach in Bishop Stortford and have a spare alto saxophone for pupils to have a try out lesson on before they commit to buying/renting their own instrument.
I can suggest any books or equipment needed for anybody who's interested in taking up lessons with me.

It gives me great joy to inspire my students, I believe that everybody should be able to have the pleasure of learning an instrument and experience the fun it can bring to your life.
