Child Protection Course:
Completed Educare child protection training course. (more)
Keeping Children Safe in Music is the latest in the EduCare's series of distance learning courses on child protection. The training programme uses short films to show a variety of good and bad practice examples, which will be available to watch online. It will help anyone teaching music to children gain a better understanding of their child protection responsibilities, and avoid situations that could lead to accusations of misconduct.

Trixi Field offers tuition in all styles of keyboard and piano for all ages, recorders for children, jazz for beginners, voice, improvisation, composition, general theory and musicianship. She believes in a rounded music education which involves learning to read music, playing by ear, learning other people’s music and creating your own.

Most importantly, learning to sing or play a musical instrument should be an enjoyable activity and not a chore. Activities designed to build musical skills and confidence and to inspire enjoyment and laughter are an important feature of her tuition style. At the same time, Trixi expects you to be committed to attending your lessons as well as singing or playing your instrument regularly at home if you want to benefit from your tuition, and enjoy your music-making to the full.

Keyboard/piano: Young or old, experienced or a beginner Trixi is happy to provide tuition for you. You can learn jazz or classical and you’re welcome to work towards ABRSM examinations in either style if you wish, or towards Trinity Rockschool exams, but there’s no pressure for you to do so. Pupils who are presented for examinations by Trixi tend to enjoy exceptional success. Never composed before? Would like to have a go? You may be surprised at what you can achieve. All you need is an open mind and lots of enthusiasm!
Lessons take place on a Challen baby grand piano and/or a Yamaha Piaggero NP V80 keyboard.

Singing: An enjoyable approach to singing and vocal production, we’ll explore range, resonance and volume, learn songs of your choice - you can even try vocal improvisation! Trixi also covers issues such as vocal health, overcoming tension and developing self-confidence. You are welcome to work towards LCM examinations for popular vocals if you wish, but there’s no pressure for you to do so. Pupils who are presented for examinations by Trixi tend to enjoy exceptional success.

Musicianship for Jazz Singers: There’s more to being a jazz singer than having a great voice! We cover: communicating an intro/ending of a song to your band, conveying your chosen tempo and groove to your band with confidence, providing charts for your band in your chosen keys and building a varied repertoire.

Recorder tuition for children: Your child may not be sure yet what instrument he or she would like to play, or may simply be a little too young for the piano or keyboard. Recorder tuition can help your child to learn to read music and start making music in an enjoyable way.

Ukulele: Of late, this little instrument has become very popular in schools and groups. It's highly portable, and capable of far more than accompanying "George Formby" style songs! Trixi teaches soprano/tenor ukulele, baritone, and also bass as an accompanying or solo instrument. Both LCM and the Victoria board offer ukulele examinations for those who see it as more than just a "step-up" instrument. Contact Trixi for more information.
