Lydia has enjoyed an extensive and varied musical education, from reading music at Selwyn College, Cambridge to studying violin performance as a post-graduate at the Royal Academy of Music. As a violinist, she is accomplished in both chamber music and orchestral performance. Chamber music highlights include masterclasses at King’s Place Chamber Studio, coaching with members of the Wihan and Endellion Quartets, and working alongside Messiaen experts Peter Hill and Matthew Schellhorn on Quatuor pour la fin du Temps.
As an orchestral musician, Lydia has worked with leading conductors such as Sir Mark Elder, Trevor Pinnock, Sir Roger Norrington and Peter Stark, performing in venues including Cadogan Hall, The Royal Festival Hall, St John Smith Square and King’s College Chapel. Her broad experience includes playing with the Royal Academy of Music Symphony Orchestra, leading the seconds with the London Young Sinfonia, Southbank's Women of the World Orchestra (2017), leading Junior Trinity Symphony Orchestra, performing regularly with Cambridge University Chamber Orchestra and leading Cambridge University String Ensemble. In 2018 she was delighted to perform with the prestigious Britten-Pears Orchestra alongside Marin Alsop, and has recently been offered a place in Southbank Sinfonia for 2019.
Notable solo performances include Bruch’s Violin Concerto with Junior Trinity Symphony Orchestra and Mozart’s G Major Concerto with Selwyn College Orchestra and Brentwood Philharmonic Orchestra.
