Mr Gordon Wright

Qualifications:
I have been playing brass instruments for over 40 years, reaching Grade 8 standard as a teenager. I have played in brass bands in the 2nd, 3rd and 4th sections.
As a qualified teacher with a BA (Hons), I understand how children learn and can adapt my teaching to suit the learner.
Instruments: I teach just about all brass instruments - cornet, trumpet, flugel horn, tenor horn, baritone, euphonium, E flat bass and B flat bass.
I will help absolute beginners select an instrument that suits them, providing opportunities to try out the full range of brass instruments.
Genre/Style(s): Traditional brass band
Classical
Ability Levels: Beginners to Intermediate

Notes:

I take a simple, straightforward approach to teaching children to play brass instruments.
I know that the early stages of learning can be very difficult so I use extensive encouragement and set realistic improvement targets. As children progress, I set more ambitious targets and work hard to inspire them to achieve improvements.
I will help existing players to overcome difficulties, analysing faults and providing practical solutions.
I always strive to make learning enjoyable.
I love brass bands and want to help children develop into the next generation of outstanding players.
I am a qualified, practising primary school teacher so I have full DBS clearance and current Child Protection training.
