PGCE Secondary Music with NQT

Masters in Music (Mmus) Newcastle Upon Tyne

BA Hons Music Newcastle Upon Tyne

I am a fully qualified secondary music teacher, with over 13 years of teaching and tutoring experience, from early years through to adults.
I have taught everything from inner city UK secondary schools to private British International schools as head of music.
Instruments: Bass Guitar
Rock band and ensembles.
Genre/Style(s): Rock, pop, blues, funk, punk, folk, classical and anything else you might be interested in!
Ability Levels: Beginners to Advanced

I specialise in fostering and engaging new learners to music.

My approach firmly centres on having FUN, if you can capture the interest of a student then learning comes naturally.
I teach in a way that works for the student, without following a single prescribed method or perceived 'perfect' approach to teaching, and honestly the 'ticking boxes' technique doesn't inspire me or my students.

This approach has developed over 13 years of teaching in a variety of schools and settings, from 1-1 tutoring to hundreds children on a stage, and I have learnt that the most successful way to teach is to have fun and listen to what the student wants.

I specialise in introducing people of all ages including children from as young as 5 years old to play piano, drums, guitar, ukulele and bass, often combining with singing, percussion, group music, bands, ensembles and performances!
I can also work through graded exams including RSL Rock School and ABRSM.

I have a proven track record and great evidence of my work over the years.

I also teach music theory and sight reading, adding it in to lessons as or when required

I also teach advanced bass guitar.

The best thing you can do is get in touch to chat about what you or your child may want to learn!
