Mr Matthew Palmer

I originate from the village of Tarleton near Preston. I began playing the Cornet in my local brass band at the age of 5 and picked up the trumpet at the age of 10 when I began studying at the Junior RNCM, where I studied for 8 years. Whilst at the Junior RNCM I was taught by Helen Quayle, Tracey Redfern, Neil Fulton and John Miller.
As a teenager I was a member of various National ensembles including the NCOGB and NYOGB and NYBBGB. In 2002 I won the International Trumpet Guild under 18ís solo competition when its yearly conference was held at the RNCM. In 2009 I graduated from the RNCM whilst there I won a number of Solo prizes including the 2008 Brass Solo prize and Stuart Roebuck prize for brass playing.
Since graduating I am enjoying a freelance career as a trumpeter player and Teacher. As a performer I have played with many professional orchestras across in the Northwest and also perform solo recitals and recitals with my Brass quintet the Metropolitan Brass Ensemble. I have held many teaching posts and I am a trumpet teacher at the JuniorRNCM.
