Biography

Chris Malkinson started learning classical piano at the age of 7, and his subsequent interest in jazz, pop and rock music prompted him to study at Leeds College Of Music. He has since worked in a variety of musical situations as keyboard player, pianist, accompanist and arranger. He was keyboardist and assistant musical director on the first UK tour of ‘What a Feeling’ with Irene Cara in 1996, and shortly after became a founder member of top band 'Groovin’ High', backing Tony Hadley and appearing with Bryan Adams. As a member of The British Philharmonic Orchestra, Chris has played keyboards with Andrea Bocelli on five UK tours - taking in The O2 Arena, Manchester MEN, Liverpool Echo Arena and Belfast Odyssey.

Chris’s own bands ‘Not The Hoople’ and ‘Alibi’ are in demand on the international function circuit, and have been booked on many occasions for the prestigious New Year’s Eve Ball at Jumeirah Madinat, Dubai.

As a solo pianist, Chris has performed on leading cruise liners QE2 and Oriana, and held long standing residencies at The Savoy Hotel, Gilbert Scott restaurant at St Pancras, and Sopwell House in St. Albans. He is currently a resident pianist in The Tea Salon at Fortnum & Mason, Piccadilly.

Chris plays for many private parties and corporate events at leading London venues such as The Berkeley, The Wallace Collection, and V & A museum. He regularly entertains at Searcys restaurant on the top floor of the ‘Gherkin’ building in the city, and has been hired by Sir Alan Sugar, The Russian Embassy, The Bishop Of St Albans, and The New England Patriots.
