Notes:
I am an experienced Brass player, having spent time playing in a wide range of genres and ensembles. My specialty is Jazz and improvisation but I have also played in orchestras, funk and pop bands. I have an excellent understanding of music theory in both Classical and Jazz genres and love to write my own compositions and arrangements.
I have been providing private music tuition in Brass and Music Theory for many years and have been teaching music in the classroom since 2014. In addition, I hold a full PVG certificate and have received the latest training in current educational practises. I have taught across all age groups from young children to adults and aim to provide the best possible teaching in a fun and relaxed atmosphere.
Most of my students choose to do graded exams (ABRSM - either classical or jazz grades), but this is entirely optional. I can also support students in preparing for National 5 and Higher/Advanced Higher examinations. Lessons will be structured around your individual needs, based on an understanding of your goals and what you want to achieve. As a musician and as a teacher, I am able to provide fun and flexible lessons that allow you to progress at your own pace.
