Lydia Marchione, mezzo-soprano, is of Sicilian-Maltese origin, and
trained at the GSMD where roles included L’Enfant in L’Enfant et les sortilèges and Bianca in Lucretia. Her international career, on both the operatic stage and concert platform, has since taken her throughout Europe and beyond to Dubai and Tokyo. She has sung for companies such as Royal Opera House and English Touring Opera, for Sony on a TV
commercial, and has appeared in opera cinema broadcasts.
For English National Opera she has performed: Isabel (Pirates of Penzance), Ida (Die Fledermaus), Cretian (Idomeneo),
Bridesmaid (Marriage of Figaro), Noble Orphan (Rosenkavalier), French Girl (Death
in Venice), Countess Ceprano (Rigoletto), and understudied 2nd Gentleman (Julietta),
Margret (Wozzeck), Vittoria (Gondoliers) and Brian’s Mother (Two Boys).
