Having trained as an operatic soprano I have discovered that learning to sing is a deeply individual experience so I tailor lessons according to the needs of each student and what they want to get from their time.
I believe singing is most enjoyable when your body works for you not against you so I focus a lot on breath and body work, alignment and posture. I have been a practitioner of Ashtanga yoga for two years whilst studying in Glasgow and I'm particularly interested in looking at how the foundations of yoga encourage good vocal production.
As a performer I recognize that it can be daunting to stand up and sing by yourself. I worked with a performance coach for two years who was firmly committed to exploring how performers can learn from the mental training techniques of elite athletes to improve performance and wellbeing. I aim to work with my students on strategies that will develop their confidence in performance situations.
