First - I offer a safe environment: I have full measures in place to enable safe face-to-face teaching, including distance between me and the student; I allow time between students, and I clean the keyboard and surround, door handles, light switches, and doorbell before each student; use of masks; I provide sanitiser.
I also teach online (and have students around the world), which is extremely effective - as well as being Covid-free(!) and more ecologically friendly.
And what is my teaching all about?
I have a particular interest in technique (especially playing without pain or tension), so if you have any technical issues, do please get in touch.
I teach privately and at the University of Manchester; I prepare students for exams as needed (but they're not compulsory!), usually working to the Trinity Guildhall syllabus, and use a wide range of repertoire to develop an all-round musicianship. Yes, you will play scales, but not scales as you know them...
I teach all ages, and prefer to work with students who are at grade 3 or above, though I'm always more than happy to discuss individual cases.
I also accompany and coach for exams and auditions.
I have certified DBS clearance.
I am a member of the Musicians' Union, the European Piano Teachers' Association, and the Royal Society of Musicians.
