Master of Music degree
Instruments: Cello
Genre/Style(s): Classical
Ability Levels: Beginners to Advanced

I graduated from the University of Arts (Universität der Künste) in Berlin, receiving a Master of Music (M.A. Mus.) degree in 2016. I have successfully taken part in a number of solo concerts in Poland. From an early age, I have been taking part in music competitions. I received top prizes in several international contests for young cellists and adults. Among them was Dezyderiusz Danczowski Competition in Poznan, the oldest and the most important national cello and double bass competition in Poland.
My natural curiosity about different ways of interpreting music has lead to participation in many masterclasses with renowned pedagogues such as Cecylia Barczyk, Colin Carr, Kazimierz Michalik, Phillippe Muller, Arto Noras, Jeroen Reuling or Raphael Wallfisch. The cellists representing the highest level of playing are a great inspiration. They decisively contributed to broadening my musical horizons.
During my Bachelor studies with Stanislaw Firlej in Wroclaw (Poland) I obtained pedagogic qualifications, what helped me in treating each young cellist individually and tailoring the lessons to studentís needs. I have also got to know different teaching systems, including the ABRSM grade system. Since 2008 I have been giving private cello lessons to both schoolchildren and adults.
As shown above, I am classically trained and I am keen on showing the students the complexity and richness of the world of classical music. I am also interested in finding out what qualities of music are valuable to my students, what styles and which time-periods of the compositions suit them, which kind of emotional content attracts them. With this knowledge I can understand their needs better and I can show them how to develop their confidence. Consequently, they learn that music is a means to an end and its purpose is to express.
On the other side, I want to give them solid foundations to build their technique on and in this matter I am a fan of exercises written by masters like Feuillard, Tortelier or Starker. One of their major functions is to provide a training ground for ambitious students who want to play more and more difficult compositions. Regardless of the age and skills of the pupils, I focus on the joy of music-making and body-awareness while practicing.
As a self-motivated, enthusiastic and well-organized individual I consider myself an effective teacher.
