Mr Carwyn Thomas

I began my musical journey at the age of 3, singing in local and national Eisteddfodau across Wales. At the age of 8, having played the trumpet for about six months, I saw my younger brother pick up a clarinet at the local music shop and decided I wanted one too.

Thirteen years of playing the clarinet later, I have played in local and national orchestras, including the National Children's Orchestra of Great Britain and the National Children's Wind Orchestra of Great Britain, won a considerable number of local Eisteddfodau, played for honoured guests such as Charles, Prince of Wales, and have shared a stage with greats such as Shân Cothi, Stephen Pilkington and Acker Bilk.

I graduated from the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama with a BMus in Clarinet Performance after 6 years of Junior Conservatoire and 4 years of undergraduate study (including a Teaching Skills module). I am currently still studying at the College, hoping to attain a MMus in Performance after a further two years of study, and hope to continue my fervent passion for teaching for the rest of my musical career.
