Mr Phillip Wood

Having joined The Band of Her Majesty's Coldstream Guards in 1990 I served for 18 years as Principal Horn. During this period I was fortunate to tour extensively and perform internationally at high profile engagements, including concert tours in Japan and South Korea for the Japanese Orchestral Society, Australia, North America, Canada and most of Europe.

I also performed with a number of orchestras and shows in the London area during this time.

Always interested in professional development and teaching/coaching I undertook a Masters Degree in Performance which also enabled me to study the psychology of the subject.

In 2008 I studied Conducting with Rob Wiffin and Orchestration with Stephen Roberts (Established composer/arranger and former member of Fine Arts Brass).

During this period I also furthered my studies in Harmony/Composition and the History and Analysis of Music completing a BMus (Hons) degree with a Class 1.

From 2011 I was appointed as Bandmaster of the Light Cavalry Band in Dorset and in 2012 I took the post as Bandmaster of the Royal Regiment of Scotland Band based in Edinburgh.
