Mr Andrew Shirtliff

I attended Chetham's School of Music from the age of 11, and received piano tuition from Nigel Pitceathly and Murray McLachlan, and studied composition with Gavin Wayte. In 2002 I reached the national final of the BBC Young Musician competition, and the quarter final in 2004. I took part in masterclasses with Stephen Hough, Leon McCawley, Alicia Fiderkiewicz and Norma Fisher, and composition with James MacMillan and Peter Maxwell Davis.

I have been teaching full-time since July 2008, and currently teach 35 pupils per week - both adults and children from the age of 5 upwards. I also teach ABRSM theory Grades 1-6, harmony and improvisation.
