GCSE Music
A Level Music
Instruments: Guitar
Genre/Style(s): Acoustic
Ability Levels: Beginners to Intermediate

I am currently a Newcastle based student from London with a passion for teaching the fundamentals of guitar and ukulele and building on these, as well as emphasise the importance of the music theory behind it.

I have been studying music since I was 10 years old and play multiple instruments at different levels, including clarinet, piano, however having the most expertise in guitar.

I have been teaching children from the age of 6 for about 3 years now and find it easy to interact with children and adapt my teaching style to suit individuals.

My philosophy of teaching music is for it to be fun, practical and stimulating.

Most important I want my pupil to have fun while learning. I usually teach using familiar tunes and ask the pupil out of a set of exercises (ear training, reading music, chord training, playing tunes, rhythm training) what they would like to do first.

Also, I want my pupil to gain experience by being practical by expressing their knowledge on their instrument, and understand what they are doing.

Finally, stimulating, I want my pupils to be inspired by music and want to expand their own knowledge with self study. For younger children listening to more music, and choosing their favourite songs and musicians. This I find encourages a sense of rhythm in a child.
