Born in Ayrshire, 1993 - Ross began his musical studies as a pianist. Entering the Junior Conservatoire on a scholarship aged eight, he went on to win many piano prizes including Annie P Barclay Trophy, Agnes Millar Memorial Prize and the Robert Howe Memorial Award at the Ayrshire Music Festival as well as the Raymond O'Connell Trophy at the Glasgow Music Festival. In 2008, Ross recorded 'Moonscapes' by Edwin Roxburgh for BBC Radio 3's Pianothon. He was also the winner of the RCS Junior Academy Gilbert Innes Prize for Piano the same year.

In 2009, Ross was awarded the Elizabeth McNair Trophy for Best Instrumental Performance of the Ayrshire Music Festival. In 2010, Ross premiered Katrina Gordon's Saxophone Concerto with the Highland Chamber Orchestra. He went on to finish his school years at Douglas Academy Music School and was selected as soloist for West of Scotland School's Concert Band, performing Irish composer Michael Ball's Saxophone Concerto at Glasgow City Halls.

As a chamber musician, Ross is a member of 'Athenaeum Winds', giving concerts and workshops around the UK - the group were Enterprise Music Scotland Artists from 2012-2015, during which they premiered 'Pilgrim of Curiosity' by Oliver Iredale Searle at the Centre of Contemporary Arts in Glasgow.

Ross studied in Verona with saxophonist Giovanni Nardi. He won third prize in the Chieri International Competition near Turin in 2013 and last year was Highly Commended in the Governor's Woodwind Prize at the RCS.

Ross has performed saxophone with the Royal Scottish National Orchestra, clarinet with Virtuosi Italiani in Verona and in 2012 took part in the BBCSSO Mentoring Scheme. This year, he was selected to be mentored on clarinet with the RSNO.

He was selected this year to perform "Black Dog" by Scott McAllister, and this June will be performing the Mozart Clarinet Concerto on original 'Bassett Clarinet' at the Westbourne Music Series. In July, Ross will be touring Italy as soloist with Raucous Rossini, performing the Mozart Clarinet Concerto and Rossini's 'Il Signor Bruschino'.

Ross completed his studies at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland studying with Yann Ghiro, John Cushing and Maximiliano Martin as well as partcipating in masterclasses from Arno Bornkamp, Michael Collins, Kari Krikku, Simon Haram, Ib Hausmann, Rob Buckland amongst others. He is a former Enterprise Music Scotland artist and a grateful recipient of a Help Musicians UK award.
