Hello! I’m currently offering 1-to-1 online singing lessons via FaceTime, Skype or Zoom at my discounted rate of £35/hour. If it's your first time, I offer a FREE 30 minutes consultation session. This is for us to get to know each other (your voice and my teaching style), and try out a few things, after which it is entirely up to you if you want to book in and continue our journey together. For those who are ready to commit to consistent long term development, I offer a "Pro Saver" package, 5 lessons for the price of 4 to be booked within a 3-month period.
I am a teacher who is genuinely passionate about teaching and each individual student's development. I keep a log of each lesson to help my students track their progress and take it upon myself to help my students achieve their goals. My lessons are tailored to your specific needs and focused on working out ways to help you improve, whilst having an enjoyable time!
I have been singing and performing for more than 15 years, 3 of which professionally, and hold an MA in Musical Theatre (Distinction) from the Royal Academy of Music in London. With experience in an array of music styles, I have performed in locations including London, Edinburgh, Milan, New York City, San Diego, Los Angeles, and Kuala Lumpur to name a few. I am an actively working professional actor and singer.
I have taught over 200 students in both 1:1 and ensemble settings, with ages ranging from 4 up to 60+, and experience levels ranging from absolute beginners to full-time Diploma and BA Musical Theatre students. In terms of singing technique, my teaching is primarily rooted in voice physiology, combined with exploring ways that work specifically for you in achieving a specific goal, whether it be hitting a note, or producing a certain sound etc. In terms of performance, I believe in using my experience to guide and help students make their own acting and stylistic choices.
I am passionate about helping people improve, and genuinely get a buzz when my students make progress.
TYPICAL LESSON STRUCTURE
The structure of each lesson may vary from person to person, and lesson to lesson, but will always be tailored to you and your needs. This is the usual structure I like to follow:
- Discussion of what we want to achieve by the end of the lesson
- Vocal warmup, scales, and exercises
- Sing through of a song prepared by the student
- Feedback from me
- Working through the song section by section from the beginning, covering both technique and performance
- Sing through of the same song with improvements
- Recap of everything covered in the lesson
- List of exercises and material the student should practise and prepare for the next lesson
- My knowledge covers, but is not limited to, pitching/intonation, rhythmic accuracy, expanding range, developing resonance, vocal style and quality, diction, breathing, vocal health, vocal fold closure, posture, muscular tension, soft palate position, tongue position, jaw tension, acting choices, making song cuts, note bashes, just to name a few. I am able to cover a wide range of song styles (including but not limited to pop, musical theatre, jazz, legit etc.) and am constantly open to learning and discovery, be it from students, teachers, or my colleagues. Most importantly, I do my best to ensure my students have a great time and end the session feeling inspired to practice and improve.
HOW TO BOOK
Please book by clicking one of the options below, and please fill in all your details as required. For a paid lesson, you will be required to make payment upfront. Please rest assured that if for some reason the lesson does not happen, I will provide you with a full refund – please see cancellation policy at the bottom of the page. After your booking and payment have been made, you should receive a confirmation via email.
PREPARING FOR THE LESSON
Please be on time for your lesson and have everything prepared before the start of the lesson.
Please ensure you have good internet connection, a decent microphone and camera. so that I can hear and see you clearly. Most inbuilt microphones and cameras such as iPhone are good enough. Please have something to rest your devices on so that you do not need to hold the camera during the lesson, and can stand properly.
Please have a means of recording the lesson (a phone is fine, or an in-built recording device on your laptop, iPad, or phone). This is essential for you to listen back to any part of the lesson to make notes or to aid your own practice. If you're using Zoom, I can record the lesson using the app's inbuilt function and send it over.
Please prepare at least one song you would like to work on, ideally one that you find challenging and feel you have areas to work on. Please let me know the song in advance (via the booking form) where possible, especially if it’s a lesser known song.
Please have a backing track/karaoke version/minus one with you that you can sing along to. Due to internet delays, I am unable to accompany you with the piano while you are singing.
If you still have any questions, you are most welcome to contact me using the enquiry form at the bottom of the main page. I look forward to meeting you and starting our singing journey together. Thank you.
Please let me know 48 hours in advance if you would like to reschedule, or alternatively, cancel the lesson and qualify for a full refund. Any late changes will not be entertained and no refunds will be made.
Due to the uncertainty of my acting work, I reserve the right to cancel or postpone the lesson at any time up until the commencement of the lesson. Please rest assured that I always try my best to stick to booked lessons, and in the case that I cannot, I always do my very best to give 24 hours’ notice. In the case that we are unable to reschedule the lesson, I will provide a full refund.
