dipABRSM in Violin Performance
Grade 8 Violin
Grade 4 Piano
Instruments: Violin
Genre/Style(s): A broad range of classical music
Ability Levels: Beginners to Advanced

I am a postgraduate Urban Planning student at Newcastle University, but music is as important to me as my main studies; I have been playing the violin since the age of 4 and now have a good understanding of the instrument, achieving Grade 8 distinction aged 14 and dipABRSM distinction aged 16.

I was Principal Second Violin in the National Youth Orchestra of Great Britain for two years and have led many other orchestras and ensembles including Sheffield University Symphony Orchestra. These roles have given me skills in helping other players' development, and I would now like to pass on knowledge to younger or less advanced students, in a constructive, committed and energetic way, whether aiming for exams or just for fun. I have experience of teaching from beginner to university-level, and am a tutor at Yorchestra, a youth orchestra in York.

I realise that a student does not have as much experience as older teachers, so I therefore offer very cheap fees as well. As I'm just starting to teach, I'd also be happy to provide one-off lessons or 'guided practice sessions' if this is preferred to regular tuition.
