Notes:

I am Upright and Electric Bassist and Cellist from London. I completed my degree in professional musicianship at BIMM Bristol June 2018, during which I studied Electric and Upright bass, which I found to be a simple transition from the Cello, due to the many similarities of the instruments. My musical training started as a child, on the Piano at the age of 5 and soon afterwards moving onto the Cello with the guidance of my parents (mother-Piano teacher, father- violin teacher). By age 16, I had achieved grade 8 distinction on the Cello and Grade 5 Theory. I have a great understanding of music theory and performance. I spent 6 years singing as a chorister at Southwark Cathedral and many more years playing in instrumental ensembles, and orchestras.

In January 2019, I spent 3 months teaching at the Amadou Bansang Jobarteh School of Music and Culture in The Gambia, where I taught Music Theory, Electric Bass, and Ensemble Performance classes. I also started my own band project under the name 'Hotsteppas' which has been a success, having been booked for major festival slots such as Glastonbury, Boomtown Fair, and Secret Garden party, as well as selling out headline shows in well-known venues such as the Attic Bar (Bristol), Hootenanny (London), and touring with major artists such as 'The Wailers' and 'Black Roots' internationally. I have also played on European and English tours with 'The Specials' and 'Madness'. I am a session player performing and recording with acts such as 'Chainska Brassika' and 'Matuki'. For many years I have played on countless function gigs (weddings and corporate) playing in Classical quartets, duos and more contemporary band outfits. I have extensive knowledge of the various pathways into the music industry thanks to my experience as a professional musician.

I aim to push each of my students to their highest possible level of playing during the time spent with me whilst catering to the preferences and ability of the individual. I wish to create a learning environment which is both fun and productive. I love working with all styles with a particular love for Jazz, Reggae, Soul, and Classical music.
